350 campaign success against oil

Page history last edited by Malcolm 10 years, 6 months ago

Friends,

This week’s Guardian article on a recent University of Oxford study was very clear: “The fossil fuel campaign has achieved a lot in the relatively short time since its inception”, specifying that it “is growing faster than any previous divestment campaign and could cause significant damage to coal, oil and gas companies.”

It is with this kind of momentum that we’re ready to kick off our campaign here, in the UK.

From the 27th October to the 1st November, our co-founder Bill McKibben and the 350.org crew will hit the road to help build a European movement strong enough to change the terrifying maths of the climate crisis.

We're calling it the Fossil Free Europe Tour, and it will have its final leg in the UK, on the 30th October (Edinburgh), 31st October (Birmingham), and 1st November (London).

Learn more about the tour and RSVP to one of its events.

These events will need to be big, and reach beyond our normal circle of friends. That’s why we need to make sure that everyone knows that something big is underway. Can you take a moment to share the Fossil Free Europe Tour site with your social networks?

Please join us.

Onwards,
Nicolò

P.S. Also, just to let you know: we’re going to be putting together a live web event coinciding with the last night of the tour, in London, on the 1st November – so that everyone who doesn’t happen to be near a tour stop can still get together and get a divestment discussion (and campaign!) started in their community. You can learn more and register a screening here.
