New research special - paleoclimate papers 2010-2011

Posted on 31 July 2012 by Ari Jokimäki

New research from last week series started in Skeptical Science at the beginning of 2012. Before this the series had been running for a year and a half in AGW Observer blog. Now, as new research series is having a summer break, we take a peek back to 2010 and 2011 papers in the series. We have four different posts that all contain all the papers included in the new research series during 2010 and 2011 on certain subject.

Subject of the week is paleoclimate. In order to better predict what happens in the future, we have to know how climate system works. Probably the best way to learn how climate system works is to observe actual climate changes happening. During the time period of which we have instrumental data, there haven't been many climate changes and none of them seems to be analogous to the current one that has been going on during recent decades. Therefore we need to look further back into the past. Paleoclimate is the branch of climate science that looks into the past. Problem there is to gain accurate enough data, so we only have limited view to past climate changes. However, even limited view is better than to have no view at all. Below you will find all paleoclimate papers that were included in the new research series during 2010 and 2011 (except those that were included to other posts in this special series).
