Australian Position

Hi Everybody,

We were blown away by the response to the last message regarding the Rudd government’s actions being so deeply at odds with its grandstanding on climate change. Over just a couple of days LIVE’s list jumped from 1,750 to 2050 so a sincere thank you to the many of you who passed it around to your friends, family and colleagues.

We are right now in one of a number of critical moments this year, with the climate meetings in the USA and Rudd posing as a world leader.

It would send a strong message if there were floods of letters to the papers in the next couple of days slamming Rudd and Wong for going to the UN with their shamefully weak, protect our polluters at all cost emission reduction targets. Our leaders are knowingly undermining the level of ambition within the developed world and the climate movement is outing them.

Please consider writing to the newspapers today. The shorter the better - see Deb’s letter below which is 150 words, best to stay within that range or lower.

Also, If you didn't already see, Sir David King and Lord Stern both told the Financial Times yesterday that it would be better to see no deal this year than a poor deal with weak targets. Worth reading and sending: http://bit.ly/16FV7y

And please don’t forget to visit our site www.live.org.au for listings of events and other goings on in the climate movement.

Thanks and happy campaigning,
